How Parents and Children Should Deal With Cyberbullying

So what is cyberbullying?  It can be defined as "when the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarass another person."

This phenomenon is a new source of concern for parents.  As much as 25% of school age children are being bullied online on forums such as Facebook.  Because the majority of this is done after school hours, often school administrators don't want to be involved.  So what can parents do to help their children?

The most effective thing parents can do is to teach themselves and their children more about this problem.

They can collect evidence of the bullying, save printouts and if things cross boundaries and become threatening, they should speak to school authortities and or law enforcement officials.
